Sunflowers

Lately I have really loved the sunflower designs I've been seeing on nails.  I decided to sit down and sketch out a summer/fall sunflower set of nails that I was lucky enough to put on my wonderful sister.  She really likes teal so we incorporated the teal with some black and added 3D sunflowers.  I really loved the way they turned out!!

Crayola Fun

I like thinking about new ways to improve nail art.  While at Walmart the other day, I thought how cool it would be if I put crayon shavings into the acrylic.  I bought a pack of Crayola Crayons and a small pencil sharpener and waited for the right client to agree to my idea.  Friday I finally found someone!  My dear client Amber is always willing to try something new.  I proposed my idea to her and she was excited to try it out!!  I shaved a purple, orange, blue, and green crayon and sprinkled the shavings on top of silver acrylic. I found a chunky acrylic with neon moons and stars that I thought would go perfectly. After filling, filing, and a clear topcoat of gel, they were DONE and looked FANTASTIC!

Hope everyone had a great Easter!  I was looking forward to celebrating Easter weekend with a little Spring planting.  Instead, I watched snow fall from the inside of the house.  At least things will be green I guess!  I missed Easter posts prior, so here are the cute Easter/Spring nails I've done this year and even a few cute ones from years past.

This set of nails was from 2015.  They are glitter acrylic mixes with painted designs to look like Easter Eggs.

This client of mine ALWAYS gets polka dots for Easter.  Last year, I decided to add some Peeps to her nails for a little extra Easter fun!  They turned out so cute!

Here's a Spring set of nails from 2015.  They are a glitter mix fade with 3D pastel flowers.  

Here's another Easter set from 2015.  I sketched these out on paper and was so excited to see them come to life on her nails!!  I sculpted the sheep, rabbits, and Peeps from acrylic and drew on the smaller details. 

This client has the most PERFECT natural nails.  This was a set I did this year using Gelish polish and painting the chevron and bunny,  Too cute!

This set of nails was inspired by a photo online.  The designs were painted with gel with the flowers were sculpted with acrylic.  Perfect for Spring!

These nails were from 2016 and were done using acrylic from Glam and Glits.  Too bad the middle fingers photographed as the same color as the bright tangerine color.  In person, it was actually a hot pink,  I faded a little glitter from Magnetic for added flair.

This client was starting school to become an esthetician and could only wear her nails until school started.  This was the last set she got to wear before taking them off.  I used a teal color "Obsessive Compulsive" from Glam and Glits. 

And more Peeps!!  These nails were done using the pastel colors from Young Nails.  I sculpted the 3D Peeps using acrylic from Glam and Glits.

This set of nails was from 2015.  I used Gelish over her natural nails then painted the designs.  The ring fingers were done using sharpie.

This set of nails was from 2015.  She wanted a green glitter fade and a few bunny butts. Too cute!

Clovers and Such

St Patricks Day is right around the corner!!  I've only done a few St. Paddy's Day designs this year, but here are a few from years past.

Here is a set of Beer Nails I did back in 2013.  They are sculpted acrylic gold glitter for the beer and topped with a frosty white for the foam.  I added pieces of fimo lemons and limes.

These nails are a custom mixed lime green glitter with silver discs and pieces of lace.  

These are a St. Patrick's Day nail set from 2014.  I sculpted the leprechaun faces with orange acrylic and added a beer finger.  

This is from 2016 and is actually gel polish over clear acrylic.  I used Gelish then dusted craft glitter in the dispersion layer.  The shamrocks are hand painted.

The green on these nails was a custom mixed glitter.  I'm not even sure where I got it from.  I added a rainbow finger for some added fun.

Here is a nontraditional St. Patrick's Day set of nails.  I used a lime green acrylic then marbled it with white for the ring fingers.  The cheetah spots were hand painted.

This set was from 2015.  I loved the simple colors!

Valentines

Valentine's Day.  It's always been about pink, love, and of course, hearts.  I've never really been a huge fan of the holiday.  I guess because there's always expectations of presents, flowers, chocolates, and diamonds.  Two years ago, when we welcomed our precious little boy into the world, I now have an even better reason to celebrate Valentine's Day!  Even still, I enjoy creating nail art with hearts to promote the season.  Here are the last of my Valentine nails from 2016.

Another set of nails using color change acrylic from Glam and Glits.  I sculpted the 3D hearts and lips.

Color change acrylic from Glam and Glits in Altered State.  I stamped the design using a stamp from Bundle Monster and sculpted the hearts and flowers using acrylic.

More color change acrylic from Glam and Glits.  I marbled the colors to get as many different shades as I could.  The darker colors are the acrylics when cold and the bright colors are when they are warm.

Love Birds

I LOVE creating nail art!!  With the invention of Pinterest, my clients like to bring me pictures they've found and want me to copy the design.  Sometimes I feel like my creativity is being wasted.  Anyone can copy someone else's work.  This year I decided I was going to do some nifty Valentine nails WITHOUT copying something from Pinterest.  I found a really cute Valentine card that I wanted to use as inspiration.  These nails turned out so CUTE!!  I mixed up a few custom blends of pink glitter then hand painted the owls and hearts using acrylic paint.  I just love when an idea comes to life!!

Some Love

Valentine's Day is right around the corner.  Now is the time to break out all those spicy pinks and reds and embellish with hearts!

This is a all acrylic with stamped hearts.  The pink is from Young Nails and the stamp is from Bundle Monster.  

These are Gelish polish over clear acrylic.  The stamps are from Bundle Monster while the roses were hand painted with Gelish.

My client has the BEST natural nails!  This is Gelish polish with a lace stamp from Born Pretty.

This set turned out so great!!!  Unfortunately you can't guarantee how the colors will photograph.  The "red" is actually a hot pink color called Berry Bliss from Glam and Glits.  The nails are full color acrylic and not polish.  The hearts are 3D sculpted acrylic.

Here's another set of nails using colors from Glam and Glits.  These are from their mood effect collection and they are seriously incredible!!  

This set of nails was inspired by a set from Pinterest.  We changed it up by adding the silver accent finger and painting the heart on only 1 finger.  They are Gelish polish over clear acrylic.

Bling Bling

I've been really into chunky glitter lately and when my client said she wanted something sparkly yet simple, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

I used a chunky glitter from Magnetic Nail Designs and placed silver disc throughout.  I encased in clear acrylic and topped with a gel topcoat.

We have officially started 2016! Hopefully everyone had a great New Year!  I made chili verde and cheesecake and had a quiet night home with the family.  I only worked one day last week because of the holiday but I was able to do some really cute nails.  Here's to a fantastic 2016 and an intro with some super cute nails!

My client wanted something glittery so I came up with this design.  I used foil then added glitter and encased with clear acrylic.  The black swirls were painted later using acrylic paint.

My client found a similar photo online and wanted a recreation.  I used a red metallic gel polish from Gelish then dusted glitter and iridescent pigment from MAC Cosmetics.  The white and blue dots are painted using acrylic paint.  

My client wanted to know if it was too soon for Valentine nails.  Is it really ever too early for pink and hearts?  This is Gelish over her natural nails with painted hearts and dots.
