I Love My Job!!

West Side Story

My client came in requesting a set of nails from the musical West Side Story. She had played Anita in the local high school's production and loved the character and music so much that se wanted a themed set of nails. We scuplted out a brick color mixing Young Nail's Rouge and Metallic Silver then added pieces of black glitter for the aged brick look. I drew on the lines for the bricks and wrote in grafitti style, "Sharks, Jets, Bernardo, and Anita" I think they came out pretty cool!

Being Inspired

My client recently joined a bowling league and thought it would be awesome if her ball could match her nails. She took a photo of the ball and brought it to her appointment. After much deliberation, we decided on four shades that we hoped would match. What do you think?

More Bright Colors!!

My client loves the gel polishes and sometimes gets tired of the same old plain colors. This time we pressed in green, yellow, and orange glitter for a little added fun. You should see these sparkle in the sun!

What a perfect set of nails for Spring!! Pink and purple marble with flowers and dragonflies. I hand painted a few dots for some additional color.

Now this is a bold and fun set of nails! My client really likes teal and zebra stripes and my idea was to add a little pink for contrast. Loved the way these turned out!!! Top it off with a few Swarovski crystals to finish the set.

A new trend is the full glitter fade. Bringing the glitter all the way to the cuticle adds more of a canvas for additional art! I encased clear holographic dots and added more Swarovaski for even more sparkle!

I totally love this set and so did my client!! She was headed off to sunny St. George and needed something to brighten the trip. We faded teal into yellow glitter and encased clear holographic discs. The discs pick up tons of additional color which, unfortunately, can't be captured in the photo.

The purple on the tip was custom made for my client by mixing 5 different shades of purple glitter. We faded it into a salmon color and topped it off with pink holographic discs. Totally love!

Here's a set with black glitter and encased pieces of seashell. The shells are a pearlized pink and contrast well with the dark black.

My client was headed off to prom and wanted her nails to match her dark gray dress. I split the nail into sections and did one side a light gray and the other a darker shade. The middle finger was done in a solid shade of metallic silver glitter. All the nails have encased mirrors with the ring fingers sporting Swarovski crystals.

Is it too early for Spring??

We're starting 2012 off with some bright colors and new designs! Here are a few of my faves from the start of the new year!

Nothing beats red and black! I was feeling creative and wanted a new spin on red and black. I mixed some of my Young Nails glitters along with some high quality colors from Glitz Glitter and here was my creation!

When you're feeling Spring you just need to see some flowers, so that's exactly what I did! I found some dried flowers online and decided to encase them atop of the glitter. Fantastic!

Polka dots have EaSiLy become my most favorite design! This design was created with a rainbow glitter in blue, yellow, violet, dark purple, orange, green, and a light blue surrouned in a pastel blue. The reminded me of Easter Eggs!

Hooray for polka dots! Another set done with neon colors against a black background. Don't we just love it?!!

Nothing beats teal, black, and silver. A client found a photo online and fell in love with the design and hoped I could recreat it. I manipulated the original design to create something new but stuck with the original colors. I think I might like my interpretation better! ;)

I had a new client come in who wanted something fun and bright! How awesome! I made a custom glitter mix with several shades of teal and faded them onto the nailbed. For added bling, I encased blue mylar and here was the finished product. Love!

Over the rainbow, baby!! When your client likes four different shades, why not fade them all?? I call this the full fade with the color faded all the way to the cuticle. Super cool!

I just love the Hawaiin flowers! The idea was a teal, green, yellow fade with pink glitter...but why stop there?! Adding the flowers made this set of nails POP!!

Oh St. Patrick!! Here's a green fade with three different shades of green. I added metallic discs and hand sculpted gold coins to finish off the design. The ring finger was a full fade with all the colors of the rainbow. Off to discover that pot of gold!

And who needs a traditional smile line?? Love it!

This was a St. Patrick's set done with two colors from the Young Nails Block Party Collection. Love the contrasting green colors and the rainbow!

When you want something simple and green. Here is another set using the Block Party Collection. Funny how using one color vs. two colors changes the whole look.

When your client wants green and gold and the colors you have just don't make the cut, mix a new one!! The gold on the ring fingers was a custom mix using different shades of gold and yellow glitter. Add some upsidedown hearts and you get shamrocks! Viola!!

Valentines Day

Nothing beats pinks, reds, and hearts and I think that's why I love Valentine's Day!!

Probably my most favorite Valentine set! The pink tip is made from MAC pigment faded over white acrylic with pink fimo hearts. Classy set of pink and white!

This was a custom mixed pink acrylic from MAC pigment. We faded some chunky pink glitter from Sparkles Nail Products and added fimo conversation hearts.

Here's a custom made pink glitter with metallic hearts, holographic discs, and some painted dots. Love it!

Just love doing fades! This set was a black and red glitter fade with metallic hearts.

More New Nails

Christmas nails with lights and snowmen. I sculpted out a set of glass nails and filled them in with hand sculpted lights. Adorable!

Another set of Christmas nails done on glass WITH glass! I took an old Christmas bulb and shattered it. I placed the shards of glass on the nail and capped it in clear.

Hand sculpted black and white with a hot pink center line. Very classy.

Silver and black with a purple center line. Classy and flashy!

I purchased some pigments from MAC Cosmetics and thought it would be a good idea to add them to some clear acrylic! Viola!! Custom colors!!

This set was done using black glitter, silver glitter, and Romp from MAC. I sculpted in the hearts then sculpted on the black and silver. Happy Valentines!

Fall set of maple leaves. I laid several different shades then freehanded the outlines.

Everything's New!

Wow! It's been a long time since I last updated!! I passed my nail tech exam and was officially licensed in August 2011! I started working at Melaties in Grantsville where I'm the only nail tech among several talented hair stylists and one esthetician.

I've been slacking on my blog since I created my fanpage on Facebook. Let's see if I can do a better job with the blog.
